In our rapidly globalizing world, opportunities of people to know eachother, understand and mutually working have increased. Such as the previous times of humanity, the roles of universities have started to appear with all their features. On one side, while the education in universities continues, required practical studies in order to train young people who could keep up with this process have been added.
These studies include educating the generations which are used to groupwork, and have learned well to accept the others in his or her place; no matter what his/her religion, language, skincolour, nationality are. These generations should also have learned transdisciplinary approach rather than multidisciplinary. In order to realize these ideals, universities should get out of the idea of statuco and establish a dynamic structure.
It’s not sufficient for a country to have universities with this structure and philosophy. In general, it is a basic idea that the world universities accept this structure and give education in this direction. Because, in today’s world, most of the problems are global. Their solution will be possible with global struggles. These principles involve strengthening the ties between universities, exchange of students and instructors. Providing these aims in an international level, namely, realizing these exchanges between universities, depend on the existance of non-governmental organizations which are able to work effectively and reasonably, together with the official ways. With these approaches, we have founded the International Assocciation of Universities. Our aim is to deliver the information, to hold mutual congresses, conferences, and symposiums, to introduce universities to eachother, to be a moderator for every kind of exchange program and to give information about the common sense to universities regardless of that they are related to us or not.
Although it is a newly founded one, rectors from almost all around the world have visited and become a member of our assocciation. We, too, have visited rectors, directors and academicians and universities both at home and abroad. Inter- university exchanges on various topics have been started immediately. We joined the meetings on these subjects. We organized meetings and are continuing to do that. Being a bridge between universities , helping them open windows to eachother, having universities with the consciousness of their duty and responsibilities to find the most suitable and best solutions to the problems of today’s people is not only a good willing and sincere desire but it is also our ultimate target to overcome the challenges which we can face in front of us.
As a non-governmental organization, since we think that we can reach these aims with the help of only international cooperation, we have founded this International Assocciation of Universities.
